How many times have you been out and about, and rue the fact your trusty Astrolabe is not with you? This pocket sized version is here to provide all your timekeeping and stargazing needs, whenever you need it! You may need some reading glasses - THE WRITING IS SMALL but this instrument is fully functional, just like its big brother. However, it is limited to one latitude plate, so you'll need to be within 2-3º of the stated latitude to get the best results.
The standard version also missing the sights on the alidade, for the simple reason they'd be tiny, and snap off; however it means the astrolabe will slide into a pocket without sticky-out bits to get in the way. You may purchase it with a 3D-printed alidade as an optional extra, to give you the choice of which one to use.
This is a modern recreation of the ancient Astrolabe, an instrument used for calendar based astronomical observations. You can find the rise and set times of the Sun and stars, find out when they will be in certain positions, find out the offset of the Sun due to the Equation of Time, and measure other things such as distances and heights. NB: Times given by this instrument are shown in Solar Time which is not the same as on your watch! (See the instructions for a fuller explanation of this)
