Lunar Volvelle

$28

This is a modern recreation of the Lunar Volvelles originally found in paper manuscripts hundreds of years ago. It is used to measure the relationship between the Sun, Moon, and both standard and astrological calendars. The main solstices/equinoxes and quarterly Festivals are also shown. The inner two rings on the main dial show maximum sun elevation during the year, and the hours of day/night. These two change with latitude, so please choose the closest option to your (or your gift recipient's) location.

A manual describing its use can be found here: http://wavytail.com/lunar-volvelle/

It is made from a laser engraved base plate of 1/8" plywood, with three layers of 1/16" playwood on top for the rotating discs. There is a Chicago screw in the middle holding it all together. It is 144mm or 5 3/4" in diameter.
