This is a modern recreation of the Saphea Arzachelis Universal Astrolabe.
IT IS NOT FOR THE BEGINNER ASTROLABE USER. It's quite complex to use, and I do not yet have a complete set of instructions for it (I'm working on this but it could take a while).

Latitude plates come two to a disc; I engrave both front and back of each disc. There's room for one disc in here; the Planispheric side is not the main function of the instrument. (If you already own one of my normal astrolabes, their plate discs will fit).

It is laser cut from 1/8" White Birch plywood, bolted together with brass hardware and fitted with a leather hanging loop. The Brachiolus (bendy arm) is made from 1/16" acrylic.
I fit a traditional style wooden rete to this as it suits the character of the instrument, but if you'd like to add an Acrylic Rete, please do so from the Spares listing. I will combine shipping.
I offer this instrument here for those interested parties who really want one, and anyone who might just want something quite unique for their home. Although older children should find this educational, it is not a toy - there are sharp points on the back for the sighting marks.
