This is a clock that shows the Moon Phase. It has one hand, custom made in the shape of an Apollo capsule at the Moon end and the Space Shuttle in low Earth orbit. This makes one revolution every 29.5 days, the length of the Lunar cycle. There are 29 stars around the Earth to approximate how many days we are in the cycle.
The face is made from two layers of acrylic; the front piece is engraved with the Moon phases and stars, with Earth in the middle. It measures about 9.5" / 240mm in diameter.
